Multilingual civics learning
CiviMigo
A released Flutter app for iPhone and iPad that turns U.S. civics study into a guided 30-day journey. Five study languages, offline content, and on-device progress support a daily learning habit without an account.

Overview
Context
CiviMigo is an independent study companion for the 2025 U.S. civics question bank. Its Liberty Trail organizes practice into 30 short study days, followed by more challenging English practice. A searchable library, mistake review, and random sessions give learners ways to return beyond the daily path.
The challenge
The challenge was making a large question bank approachable while preserving the distinction between official source answers and translated study support. Practice also needed to work offline, retain progress locally, and handle changing or location-dependent answers without presenting them as fixed facts.
My role and responsibility
I designed and built the learning experience, Flutter/Dart app, bundled multilingual content, and SQLite-backed progress model. I also integrated consent-aware advertising and the optional one-time CiviMigo+ purchase, and delivered the iOS release and its Opinr product website.

Architecture
Public-level conceptual architecture
A deliberately public view: enough to explain the boundaries without exposing sensitive implementation detail.
Select a component to understand its role.
Bundled study content
Versioned question and activity assets keep the source library and study material available offline.
Key decisions
Make the daily path finite and visible
Five-question days, sequential unlocks, and visible progress turn the question bank into manageable practice. Mistake review lets learners revisit what needs attention.
Keep changing answers out of automatic scoring
The library includes all 128 source questions. Scored practice covers 120; eight current or location-dependent questions instead provide official lookup guidance.
Keep study available without an account
Bundled content and local persistence keep study available offline. The trade-off is explicit: progress belongs to the device and does not sync between devices.
Validation and outcome
Evidence before adjectives.
CiviMigo is published on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, with a live Opinr website showing the study path, library, progress, and practice screens. The released product supports five study languages, offline content, and local progress. Android is announced as coming soon.
Lessons
- 01
A clear daily structure can make a large body of study material easier to return to.
- 02
Localization needs to preserve the boundary between source material and learning support.
- 03
Offline operation is a product decision that shapes content delivery, persistence, and user expectations.
